Calpe’s new ‘Queens of Fiestas’ elected

CALPE’S  ‘Queens of Fiestas’ were elected last Saturday at a gala on the Plaza Mayor attended by over 2,000 people.

The gala, organised by the Comision de Fiestas 2017, saw Angela Arlandis elected as the senior queen and Claudia Pastor elected as the junior queen.

Last year’s queens, Neus Ivars and Mara Crespo took to the stage to elect this year’s queens – drawing Angela’s name from a hat of 34 candidates aged 18 and Claudia’s name from a hat of 22 candidates aged 8.

The crowd roared with applause as the names were announced and the election was followed by speeches from the President of the Comision de Fiestas – Inma Estupina, Councillor of Fiestas – Ana Perles and Calpe Mayor – Cesar Sanchez.
