Diverse Dance Mix comes to Los Montesinos

FOOTWORK DANCE'S Erica Dorrill with world-famous Darcey Bussel.

2017 has been quite the year for Footwork Dance so far – following a hugely successful Christmas show, the opening of a second studio in Cabo Roig and all students receiving nothing short of exceptional exam results, it was Principal and Owner Erica Dorrill’s time to shine…

Now qualified as a DDMIX instructor, Erica recently returned to London to train with the DDMIX Dance Team.

DDMIX stands for ‘Diverse Dance Mix’, it is a full body aerobic workout based on a wide range of different dance styles with easy to follow steps.

DDMIX was created by Darcey Bussel who is one of the most famous British ballet dancers of all time. She trained at the Royal Ballet School and joined the company in 1987.

She was promoted to Principal in 1989 at just 20 years old. She retired from The Royal Ballet in 2007 and now supports and documents dance worldwide. She is the President of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), a judge on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and presents The Royal Ballet’s worldwide cinema simulcasts, amongst her many activities.

DDMIX embraces national dances, eras and genres from around the world.

With 26 and growing, in a typical class you might expect to enjoy: Arabic, Japanese, Greek, Line Dance, Flamenco, Samba, Chinese, 1980s Rocky, Waltz, Hand Jive, Charleston, African, 1960s, Tango, Irish, 1970s Disco, Salsa, Bollywood, Scottish, Russian, Miami Disco, 1990s vogue, 1940s Ritz, 1980s Face2Face, 1960s Twist, Flamenco 2016.

Erica explains: ‘DDMIX classes are fun with easy repetitive steps which can be adapted to suit any level of fitness, helping to tone the body and improve general fitness. It’s a wonderful way to meet friends and have fun whilst keeping healthy.’

DDMIX classes are now available at the Footwork Dance Studios in Los Montesinos and are soon to be available at the Footwork Dance Studios in Cabo Roig.

With Erica well and truly back on Spanish soil, Footwork Dance students are eagerly rehearsing for their not-to-be-missed Summer show.

Students of all age groups will participate in the show – the audience can expect to enjoy first-class performances in a range of dance including ballet, tap, modern jazz and acrobatic gymnastic dance.

The Summer show will be held at the Casa de Cultura y Musica, Los Montesinos on Sunday July 23 – with the curtain to rise at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost €7 and are available at either of the studios or via Erica on 662 003 823.

A portion of the ticket sales from each show will be donated the under-privileged of Los Montesinos.
