MARBELLA has hosted the Andalucian gymnast championships in San Pedro de Alcantara.
In the Elena Benitez sports centre, the best of the rhythmic gymnastics from across Andalucia, Ceuta and Gibraltar battled it out to be crowned champions; a total of 28 groups across five different categories.
Eight athletes from Almuñecar’s School of Rhythmic Gymnastics came out on top, gaining gold and silver medals. The school’s first win, under coordinator Zuzana Hazlova and his collaborator, Maria Jose Santiago, was from the pre-mini group, winning gold in their category with gymnasts Jimena Rodriguez, Alexandra Muñoz, Karla Barbero, Marta Alonso, Victoria Cerilla, Izel Dunn, Ariadna Rodríguez and Anabel Martín.
The second medal was won by children’s set A, gaining silver and coming runner-up in its category in a group including Marina Pulido, Clara Gonzalez, Ana Chacon, Samira Garcia, Marta Fajardo.
In addition, Carlota Chacon, Marta Jeronimo, Deva Otero, Blanca Avila and Carmen Romera’s group won 10.000 points, reaching ninth position. Children’s group A 1, comprising Natalia Toro, Laila Monserrath, Cristina Ruiz, Nerea Ucha and Marta Evangelista, scored 8,200 points, occupying 8th position, while in the Benjamin C category, made up of Cayetana Jimenez, Ailen Martin, Daniela Sanchez, Noemi Alonso, Elena Lopez, reached a worthy fifth place out of 23 participants.
After the awards ceremony, Municipal School coordinator Zuzana Hazlova, who was “very satisfied with the results achieved,” congratulated her technical team of coaches.
