Med Bar Golf Society, El Raso

The latest instalment of the Individual Stableford took place last Wednesday and the merry throng made their way to Altorreal; albeit some earlier than others!

With the sun was blazing down as early as 8.30am, plenty of liquids were needed as the temperature reached 39ºC on the course during the afternoon. As everyone trundled off the 18th green and made their way to the more than welcome 19th hole for more, albeit different but nevertheless welcome liquids, everyone agreed it was it was a hard day’s work on the course.

Even though it was his birthday, head of committee Andrew Drinkall, received the thanks of all involved for all his hard work in setting the day up which saw one very lucky –  no, make that talented – member Andy Trefry cleaning up and winning four prizes.

The results were:

Gold division and overall winner was birthday boy Andrew Drinkall with Andy Trefly taking the runner-up spot.

Silver division winner was Robert Scott; runner-up roger Clarke

Nearest the pin on par 3: Paul Owen hole 5, Buck Taylor hole 8, Andy Trefry hole 17

Nearest the pin in 2 on a par 4: Paul Owen

Longest drive on hole 18: Mark Threfall

Nearest the pin in 3 on a par 5: Andy Trefry

Everyone returned after the very enjoyable day to the Med Bar & Bistro in El Raso where family and friends joined the golferes and all had a good time thank in no small way to the buffet provided by Steve and his staff.

The next outing for the Med Bar Golf Society, El Raso is on Tuesday 25th July at Font de Llop and is the official yearly blind pair’s competition.

Anyone wishing to join the society is welcome and can either be contacted by e-mail at: or pop into the bar where all details can be left.
