New speed camera

Mijas new speed camera

DRIVERS will soon notice a new speed camera at kilometre 11.1 of the Mijas to Coin road after installation works began this week.

The camera, which is on the A-7053, will see traffic limited to 50 kilometres per hour, and will be signposted “so that drivers are informed of the restriction and adapt their driving accordingly.”

The road, which connects the Guadalhorce Valley with the Costa del Sol, runs through Mijas and Alhaurin el Grande.  The highway, which hosts around 9,000 drivers a day, received a €15.6 million facelift, paid for by the Ministry for Public Works and the Junta de Andalucia, in 2011 when 8.8 kilometres of it were widened to 10 metres.

Several braking areas were also added and a bridge over the Arroyo Pilones was extended
