RIP brave Adrian

THE YOUNG Murcian boy who fell into a swimming pool in the region last summer passed away on Monday this week, unable to fight the devastating effects of the accident any longer.

Adrian, son of Fran Guzman and Mamen Solis was just four-years-old when he fell into a swimming pool at a Murcian sports centre in August last year.

His brain was deprived of oxygen for too long and he suffered acquired brain injury (ABI), leaving him lying flat in a wheelchair.

Adrian was first taken to the paediatric intensive care unit of Hospital Clinico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca before being transferred two and a half months later to Hospital del Nino Jesus in Madrid, where a rehabilitation unit for children suffering acquired brain injury opened in May 2016.

Tributes flooded the Facebook page dedicated to Adrian – ‘Captain Adrian has decided to sail to the sky to live a better life. We are very proud of you, you have been an example of struggle and desire to live!’ said a friend of the family.

Our thoughts are with the family.
