All hands to the rescue in Murcia

IN a further incident caused by the strong sea conditions, four swimmers had to be rescued with the help of fellow beachgoers.

Beaches along the coast belonging to Murcia – especially the Amoladeras located next to the Hotel Entremares in La Manga – have suffered from the elements more than most.

A group of swimmers got into difficulty as they attempted to return to the shore and the lifeguards were notified.  However, the strength of the currents and the undertow made the rescue operation more difficult than expected, requiring both lifeguards and other bathers to form a human chain to be able to reach those struggling.

Once they returned to the shore, two of the four were treated by the medical services at the scene but didn’t need to be taken to any hospital.
