Canal mess raises local concerns

WHEN local La Marina resident Dave Moore went out for his daily cycle ride, he was shocked at what he was greeted with as he left the urbanisation.

At the end of the road from San Fulgencio, where the bottom entrance is located, is the canal which is often home to many fishermen along the bank.

“I was quite disgusted by the state of the water,” said Dave. “All this plastic will end up in the sea eventually and will go on to kill many sea creatures. I’d already seen a couple of dead fish in the canal.  Why can’t the authorities clean this mess up?”
