OFFICERS from the Guardia Civil have arrested a man for stealing 200 kilos of carob plant from a farm in Miranda, Cartagena.

The 25-year-old Romanian national was caught after the farm owner had called the police about a large amount of the plant had gone missing.

Officers visited the farm and found a car driven by a young man, accompanied by woman who was nursing a baby believed to be just a few days old.

The agents moved to the farm and detected a vehicle driven by a young man and also occupied by a woman who was nursing a baby just a few days old.

A search of the car found the 200 kilos of carob which were returned to its rightful owner.
