A STUDY into the potential impact of a multi-million Euro “Malaga Eye” style ferris wheel in the city’s port, is due to be published in September.
The proposed attraction would see a permanent 100 metre wheel replace the current temporary 70-metre one, which has been in place since last year. The ride, which is designed by architect Jeronimo Junquera, would mean building a new plaza and access footbridge, which has raised doubts among the port authorities.
The attraction’s proposers have commissioned a study by Malaga consultant, Afora Trafico y Transporte, in the hope the results will assuage any doubts about the feasibility of the project, which already has the City Council’s approval
A deadline for a decision over the attraction’s future has been set for November, at which point it will be decided whether the temporary wheel will be replaced or stay in position.
