POLITICAL TURMOIL in Marbella looks set to be resolved by the end of this month.
And this could see the return to power of the former mayor Angeles Muñoz
For many years the Partido Popular ran the Marbella Council but at the last elections the PP did not obtain an overall majority.
This meant that a triumvirate made up of the socialist PSOE, Izquierda Unida (IU) and Opción Sampedreña (OPU) ran the council with José Bernal of PSOE being elected mayor.
Now, for a promise of €18 million for the town and greater autonomy, the leader of the OPU which wants to see San Pedro independent from Marbella has agreed in principle to support a vote of no confidence in Mayor Bernal.
The vote takes place on Tuesday August 29 and it appears more than likely that the PP will then regain control of the council.
