Finca San Miguel summer party

RAISING money for an incredible variety of animals, Finca San Miguel de Salinas is organising a Summer Party on Saturday August 26 from 6pm to 9.30pm.

For just €11 you can enjoy a three-course meal including wine or Sangria and you’re advised to reserve your table via the contacts below to avoid disappointment.

Apart from making it a special day for the animals, there’s music and dancing to be enjoyed, a raffle and an Ice Bucket Bikini Challenge undertaken by the very brave Mona and Sol.  They can be sponsored in advance and on the day and the biggest sponsor has the pleasure of throwing the bucket over the ladies.

Sponsor forms are available in Cheers Bar, Eagles Nest and Restaurant / Bar Wolfies in Blue Lagoon.

Another fund raising initiative on the day is courtesy of Bernd Mann who has offered a lucky winner a ‘trike trip’ around the Torremendo lake for all those that sponsor the Ice Bucket Challenge to the tune of €50.

Finca San Miguel de Salinas (FSMS) are hoping for a successful day to match the last one at the end of July which, despite the heat, many people came along to support the animals.

FSMS – with the support of Happy Animals in Orihuela – raise money to care for eight horses, four ponies, six goats, 13 geese, two ducks, chickens, two dogs, feral cats and, four pigs.  It’s a non-profit charity, so every donation helps.

People coming to any of the open days are encouraged to bring carrots, apples, lettuce, dog and cat food, dog and cat biscuits or just give a small donation.  Everything raised goes towards hay, food, water, medication, vet bills, blacksmith bills, repairs and rent.

For more information about and directions to the FSMS, check out the Facebook group on fincasanmigueldesalinas or call Mona on 616 792 355 or e-mail

Date for the diary:  Friday September 15 from 10am to 2pm – Flea Market and Raffle at Cheers Bar, Eagles Nest.
