Firemen called to lift overweight woman back to third floor apartment

Fireman’s lift to the third floor

IN THE early hours of Monday morning, firefighters were called to help an overweight woman get into her Elche flat in the Las Palmerales area of the city.

The fire brigade received a call from an ambulance driver at 1.15am who had a female patient in his vehicle that he was bringing home from a medical centre.  The woman weighs 170 kilos and was unable to climb the stairs to get into her flat even with the help of the paramedic.  He had no choice but to call the fire service for their assistance.

Two fire engines and seven firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes and with the collaboration of the paramedic, got the woman onto the engine’s lift and managed to get her into her flat situated on the third floor.
