Medical breakthrough by Cartagena paediatrician

PATRICIA GARCÍA-MARCOS, a paediatrician based at the St Lucia Hospital in Cartagena has detected cases of undiagnosed asthma in children.

She has spent the last 15 years conducting a study that shows that not only has there been an increase in the number of asthma cases in Cartagena, there are also several symptoms of the condition that have not been previously diagnosed and as such children in particular are going on to develop the illness that they could’ve been saved from.

The project has also detected that eating fruit can also be a guard against asthma because of being a natural antioxidant.
