EUROPE´S fastest growing gay pride takes to the streets of Benidorm in less than two weeks time.
The organising team behind Benidorm Pride have pulled out all the stops to ensure this year’s event will be bigger, brighter and more spectacular than ever.
The fabulous line up of themed parties, feature a host of top local and international singers, drag artists, dancers, DJ’s and go go’s to entertain the hordes of enthusiastic, fun loving revellers.
This will be the seventh Benidorm Pride, which, through the years, has grown to become one of the most popular fiesta’s on the town’s calendar, drawing huge crowds of all ages and nationalities.
Rainbow flags will flutter proudly from venues throughout the picturesque, narrow streets of Benidorm’s old town and beach front, with many holding their own parties and themed nights throughout the week.
The official festivities kick off on Wednesday September 6, with the opening Showtime party held in the visually spectacular surroundings of the Mirador del Castillo viewpoint, close to the old town church, featuring the best of the unmissable local talent Benidorm has to offer.
Once again, co organiser and presenter Sammy Kruz will be joined by the glamorous, multilingual Roxie Corazon to host all of the parties in their own inimitable fashion.
Thursday’s White Party and Friday’s Black Party take place in the same location with international Dj’s and live pa’s.
Entry to each of these two top class events is 12 euros, including a drink and tickets are already selling fast.
Many people’s highlight of the whole week is the spectacular gay pride parade, which begins at 5pm on Saturday September 9.
Starting at the Rincon de Loix end of Levante beach, the decorated floats and walkers wearing bright colourful clothing, meander along the beachfront, cheered on by passers by, before finishing at the Auditorio Julio Inglesias, in Parc L’Aiguera.
Pride organiser Geoff Gartland, who along with partner Santos Morales and Sammy Kruz, has been instrumental in it’s increasing success, is keen to stress the inclusivity of the event.
“ The parade is a perfect evening out that all of the family can enjoy and take part in.” He said.
“ Kids love the outrageous costumes and make up, while mums and dads enjoy the fun and music on offer, so everyone should get there early to ensure a good view.”
Saturday evening continues in the large terraced auditorium, with an early evening T Dance at 7pm, followed by a sensational tribute to the stars show at 8.30pm.
For the Sunday closing night of what has the distinction of being Europe’ s closing summer pride party, the action moves to the Levant’s beachfront on the KM disco corner.
The Super Man party run by top club night Supermartxe, features a set by Dj Dario Nunez, who has given up his residency at Pacha Ibiza for the night, especially to appear at the event which is not to be missed.
