AFTER its resounding success over the past two years, Teulada-Moraira will hold its third ‘blood donation marathon’ next weekend.
The objective of the annual initiative is to encourage both residents and visitors alike to get involved in giving blood.
The event will take place at the SIT Teulada Town Hall on Friday August 18 from 5.00pm – 9.00pm and Saturday August 19 from 9.30am – 1.30pm.
Teulada-Moraira Mayor Carlos Linares expresses his greatest thanks to all involved in the organisation of the event, including local business partners who have donated raffle prizes.
Most people can give blood. You can give blood if you:
- are fit and healthy
- weigh over 7 stone 12 lbs or 50kg
- are aged between 17 and 66 (or 70 if you have given blood before)
- are over 70 and have given blood in the last two years
Maria Rosa Ivars, a resident of Teulada-Moraira works for the blood transfusion centre and was awarded the ‘GRAN DONANTE DE ESPANA’ title earlier this year for donating blood over 60 times.
Maria was very flattered and confirmed she will continue to donate blood for as long as she can.
She encouraged everybody to take part in the blood donation marathon, calling giving blood ‘a small action which can save a lot of lives’.
