AS the latest Iberia Festival gets underway tonight (Friday) a major security plan has been announced.
The briefing meeting in Benidorm allows for 90 people to be involved to ensure correct health and safety procedures take place during the Iberia Festival that is being held at the Julio Iglesias Auditorium found in the Parque de L’Aigüera.
The municipal council announced that 20 members of the local police will be used to reinforce the usual surveillance operation in cooperation with members of the National Police and the Civil Protection force.
In addition, the plan presented to the council by the promoter of the event includes the presence of seven security guards, five members of a specialised unit trained in controlling admission to major events, 16 traffic controllers, plus an overall coordinator and the chief of security.
The Iberia Festival will open its doors at 7pm tonight (Friday) and Saturday, and will feature such acts as Loquillo, Los Pistones, Estopa, Hombres G and Seguridad Social, among others, on stage.
