T.M.G.S embrace Viking raid

THE LATEST monthly outing for The Members Golf Society (TMGS), which saw them visit Campoamor, welcomed the Vikings from Norway as part of the 40 that teed off.

The golf course was in excellent condition; so good in fact that number of scores exceeded 40 points from many of the single figure handicappers.

And so to the Vikings who descended upon the Society, no doubt due to the poor weather ‘up there’ in Norway, and they were more than welcome.  However, looking at their scores they were desperate to play and it may go against them when the Viking Trophy is competed for later in the year…a trophy they have yet to win!

It’s always welcome when a member appreciates what the Society provides for him; in this case our N.T.P. prizes were sponsored by Graham Smith!  Karen, his wife, told him to make it clear who really paid for the six bottles of wine.  Whoever supplied them, the members were more than grateful and the donation was much appreciated.  Karen doesn’t play golf herself; she’s just happy that hubby is out of the house for so long and worth the expense!

The full results were:
N.T.Ps – Hole 4: Fredrik Bjorling, 6: Olga Haubner, 10: John Kennedy, 15: P. Boyling, 17: Brian McMenamin.

The ‘2’s’ pot contained €60 and was shared between Joe Dean, Kirsti Tucker and Fredrik Bjorling.

The best of the guests were father and son team T. & M. Fyke who scored 41 points (playing off 7) and son (playing off 6) scored 43.
