THE SURNAME Wright has become synonymous in the Costa Blanca with high quality food and this special tradition has now transferred to La Cala de Mijas.

Edward Wright who has run a number of different restaurants over the past 20 years decided that the time was right to bring a high quality fish and chip shop to La Cala and The Wright Plaice with its central position and easy parking is the result.

This is a restaurant for all seasons with a large interior dining area where you can watch the food being prepared by Alan Whittaker who has been involved with the preparation of this British staple since the age of 11 when he helped his mother in her fish and chip shop in the UK.

His working life has been spent in the catering industry but preparation of high quality fish and chips was always his first love and he was delighted to become involved in this new venture.

Seating is also available directly outside of the restaurant and there is plenty of space for couples or family get togethers.

Moving with the times, Edward has ensured that all of the fried food is prepared in Rape Seed Oil which is considered to be the safest for those with Gluten, Soy and Celiac allergies but he has also installed a second fryer in a separate area to allow preparation of food for Vegans and Vegetarians.

The Wright Plaice welcomes take away orders and includes a number of options which you don’t normally see in fish restaurants in Spain so apart from Cod, Plaice and Scampi, they also offer Haddock, Skate and Rock giving customers a real choice.

If someone doesn’t fancy fish, there is a wide selection of traditional pies, burgers (including a vegetarian option), spit roasted chicken and sausages together with all of the side dishes that you would expect including the ubiquitous Wally, a London name for a large pickled gherkin.

For those who have room after filling themselves with the specially prepared and good sized main courses, ice cream or a delicious home-made dessert of the day are always available.

Needless to say, children are more than welcome and there is a special kids menu where they can choose slightly smaller but equally tasty meals to accompany their parents.
This bright and modern restaurant offers all of the dishes you would expect, plus a few more and also offers a range of drinks, non-alcoholic drinks as well as beer and wine.

The Wright Plaice open from 5pm to 11pm Monday to Saturday(except Friday when it opens at 1pm) and is the ideal place to visit for a taste of one of the UKs favourite foods. .
