Torrevieja residents reported to police

TORREVIEJA residents have been reported to police for blocking roads with their chairs.

This latest incident began when a young driver spotted a rare parking space in the town but the ladies practising what the Spanish call ‘mecedoring’ – there is no equivalent English expression – did not move from the spot despite polite requests.  He called the local police who arrived preparing to find a highly charged situation.

Despite protestations from the group of women, they reluctantly moved the furniture back on the pavement and allowed the man to park his car who only wanted the space for a short while so he could pick up his wife and young son visiting a nearby swimming pool.
