PERFECT weather for golf, being slightly cooler than previous days, greeted the players for the monthly Stableford competition at the La Galiana Club de Golf located between Tavernes and Alzira.
The golf was of an excellent standard and the putting was red hot which led to a very close match overall. There were no points separating the top three and the final result was based on the player’s handicap.
Special thanks went to Mark for volunteering to reduce his handicap after a number of recent wins but nevertheless still came in with a very respectable 31 points.
The results were as follows, with members first: 1st – Pat Bradden (35 points – playing off 18), 2nd – Les Mason (35 – 20) and 3rd – Trevor Nash (35 – 26). 4th spot went to Don Cubbon scoring 34 points and playing off 33.
Guests scores: 1st – Dan Meek (29 – 18), 2nd – Nick Lock (28 10).
Nearest the pins: Trevor Nash on the 3rd, Tigger ‘the tree iron specialist’ on the 5th, Hans Benzler 14th, Carl Randall 15th & 16th, and Don Cubbon 17th.
Longest Drive on the 11th hole (in 2) went to Paul Beamish-Knight and on the 12th (using only a 3 wood) went to Carl Randall.
Finally only 68 balls in total were given up to La Galiana which made Steve Arnold €27 better off!
The next game at La Galiana will be held on Tuesday September 12 with a straightforward Matchplay format. Members and guests, old and new, are more than welcome to join the Society and more information is available from Don on 600 681 715, Peter on 642 460 415 or via e-mail at email@example.com
