Alicante Guardia Civil busier than usual

GUARDIA CIVIL officers based in Alicante have been called out in record numbers during 2017, with incidents on the road accounting for a significant percentage.

During the course of the year so far, they have helped, assisted and rescued over 5,000 times throughout the province of which more than 3,500 relate to road accidents.  The remainder – 1,147 – were connected to domestic death and medical emergencies, mountain and sea rescues and, at a number of fires where they supervised evacuation procedures.

The extra work carried out by the Guardia Civil over the past 12 months has been put down to the extremes of winter weather endured in the province during the winter.
