LA UNION´S Policia Local detained a 59-year-old man for threatening his 60-year-old brother with a gun in the middle of a packed street near a residential home.

Officers arrived at the scene after received a number of calls from concerned passers-by.

They began combing the area in search of the offender and found him minutes later on the Plaza del Liceo.

Officers opened the man’s rucksack to find the gun – a 9mm pistol with the serial number erased – plus a large knife.

The gun was loaded with five bullets and one in the chamber and another two bullets were found loose in the rucksack.

The offender was arrested and sent straight to prison, where he will be detained until trial accused of illicit possession of weapons.

If his brother files a complaint for threatening behaviour, the man could face further charges.
