Corpse found on Costa Blanca beach

THE National Police are investigating a human skeleton found buried on a beach in Alicante.

A man walking his dog in the El Saladar area discovered the corpse just 300 metres from where he found human remains in January of this year.

According to police sources the two findings appear not to be connected.

Forensic tests are now being performed to determine the identity and cause of death.

The corpse was buried in a rocky area, about 30 metres from the shore.

Firefighters were called to help excavate the remains.

An almost complete skeleton, standing just 1.5 metres tall was recovered, although in an advanced state of deterioration.

The human remains found in January were more than 100-years-old and there were no traces of DNA remaining.
