JAVEA’S Original Charity Shop celebrated its official opening of its new premises on calle Nancy on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Javea Mayor Jose Chulvi who took great pleasure in cutting the ribbon with President Georgina Harvey.
The mayor expressed his greatest thanks to everyone involved in making the Original Charity Shop such a successful organisation.
The president, members of the Board of Management and shop volunteers were delighted to receive support from the likes of Caritas, The Red Cross, MABS, Make A Smile and many others.
Guests enjoyed a glass of cava and some nibbles to celebrate the occasion.
The Original Charity Shop was founded in 1971 and has been going strong for 46 years. In 1992 the Original Charity Shop took over the English Library and for the last 25 years has been known as The Original Charity Shop and Library, with the library located in Javea Park.
During the last 45 years the Shop (and later with the support of the Library) has raised more than €2 million for local charities.
The organisation is run by a team of more than 80 international volunteers from 11 different countries.
The new shop on calle Nancy is close to the beach and offers much more space for shoppers.
It is open Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
Summer sale: Monday September 18 – Saturday September 23
