PINATAR PIRATES – 135 all out   TORREVIEJA – 59 all out

TORREVIEJA played host to their local rivals Pinatar Pirates in the latest ECCL Division II match, and for the second week in succession they came out the losers in a very disappointing performance.

In what turned out to be a very low scoring game, Pinatar batted first and were bowled out for just 135 with only three players getting into double figures.  The most successful batsman for the visitors was Vikash Singh with 29, but it was his namesake Robin Singh that starred with the ball for Torrevieja as he finished with 4 for 9 in an impressive spell.  Neville Harris also chipped in with three wickets, and it was a confident home team that went into the interval believing the target was achievable.

However, Torrevieja CC’s batting proved even more brittle than their opponents with nobody managing to make any score of note.  They were dismissed in the 30th over for a disappointing 59 all out.  And it was a good day if your surname was Singh as Gopi Singh shined with the ball for Pinatar to take 5 for 18 in an excellent spell of bowling to help his side to a 76 run win.
