A TOTAL of seven towns across Malaga province have requested funds totalling €7.5 million from the Spanish government in order to repair damages caused by bad weather.
But according to local media reports they may be forced to wait two years before receiving the cash.
The municipalities involved are Alhaurin de la Torre, Torremolinos, Igualeja, Pujerra, Juzcar, Cortes de la Frontera and Sayalonga.
Alhaurin has applied for the most money after the council requested €3.5 million to cover 82 separate jobs, most of which have already been completed.
Torremolinos has requested €330,000 to carry out repairs to the Aldeamar development in the Los Alamos neighbourhood, which was badly flooded after a local stream became blocked last December.
Sayalonga has asked for €21,700 to repair roads affected by landslides, while the remaining towns are all in the Genal Valley which was hit by the worst storm locals had experienced since 1989.
