MORE THAN 300 aspiring young footballers took part in last weekend’s football festival in Benissa.

The event was organised by the Escuela Municipal de futbol and UD Benissa and saw boys and girls from tots to teens partaking in a variety of workshops on the Campo de la Costa pitch.

Families and friends turned out in their droves to support the young footballers, who were kitted out in the traditional Benissa blue and white kit.

Councillor of Sports JaviTro was delighted to present the newly renovated facilities at the Campo de la Costa, in particular the dressing rooms and spectators area.

A match was played against the junior team from Ondara, which resulted in a 1 – 1 draw and a huge round of applause.

A special mention was given to Benissa’s new women’s team and also to the first team who were recently promoted to the Primera Regional, where they will compete against opposing Marina Alta teams from Gata de Gorgos, Ondara, Orba, Pedreguer and Pego.
