A HIGH speed chase in the waters off of Gibraltar resulted in the arrest of two local men and the seizure of a Spanish registered semi-rigid inflatable speed boat.

The operation was undertaken by officers from the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) Marine Section and HM Customs after both were alerted on Wednesday that the vessel had been spotted of the east side of the Rock in Gibraltar Territorial Waters.

Working together, the two enforcement departments started the chase and eventually stopped the speed boat off of Rosia Bay arresting two 26-year-old men who have been charged with operating and importing a prohibited item.

Good teamwork resulted in the satisfactory conclusion to the chase and the two local men have now been released on police bail.
