A 30-YEAR-OLD woman was airlifted to safety after falling some four metres whilst hiking on the Montgo with friends.
The rescue operation was carried out on Monday afternoon at a point difficult to access in the Cami de la Pedrera area.
The woman, who had been hiking with two friends, was stuck for just over two hours and firefighters were unable to rescue her on foot.
In a statement, firefighters said the rescue operation was “very complicated, since it was necessary to use the entire cable of the airlift.”
The woman was taken to the fire station in Denia where she was met by an ambulance and transferred to Hospital de Denia-Marina Salud.
The extent of her injuries is not yet known but firefighters said she was conscious and able to move her legs: “which is lucky because she fell from quite a height.”
