THE MUNICIPALITY of San Javier has allocated a significant sum of its 2018 annual budget to projects that will be decided by the residents.

Councillor for citizen participation, Catalina Pérez, and the councillor for finance Carlos Albaladejo announced the initiative after a recent meeting and said that an amount of €50,000 would be set aside for the suggestions and that the process is already open.

Pérez explained that locals over the age of 16 can already submit, until November 5, a maximum of three proposals on how they would spend the €50,000.  They can place their ideas via the municipality’s website or in special post boxes that will be located in the town hall and in the SAC (Citizen Assistance Service) in Santiago de la Ribera.

After the closing date, officials will evaluate both the sustainability and feasibility of the proposals which will then be published and open for public voting on Friday November 24 via the same methods as the submissions.  Residents can cast their vote for up to three of the final proposals and the eventual winner will end up having the €50,000 council investment.
