THE Marbella International Film Festival was formally unveiled at the Marbella Town Hall by representatives of the council and organisers.
Councillor for Nueva Andalucía, Cristóbal Garre, the head of Culture and Education of Marbella Council, Carmen Díaz, the director of the festival, Mac Chakaveh, and the president of the Goya Theatre Group, Luis Miguel Martín discussed all of the planned events.
The programme opened last Wednesday but there will be plenty of films to see (as well as celebrities to spot) with a range of films being shown in two of the comfortable Teatro Goya Banus screening rooms.
The director of the festival thanked the support of the City Council and the Goya Theatre Group confirming that entries had come in from the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Iran, Argentina, Japan, India, Ukraine, Brazil, Austria, Holland, Italy and Georgia. Tickets, which range between €8 and €15, may be purchased on the website www.marbellafilm.com.
Friday and Saturday sees visits from several popular artists including Craig Fairbrass, star of the film Rise of the Footsoldier 3, much of which was shot in Marbella. Also due to appear is Timothy Spall, known for many films, most recently Turner and the Harry Potter franchise whose one man 16 character film Stanley, Man of Variety will be presented as well as Calum Best, who will present a documentary about his father, footballer George Best.
