A WELCOME combination of never-ending warm weather that has extended the summer and water temperatures at higher than usual levels has brought thousands of extra visitors to Torrevieja’s beaches.

The popular beaches of Playa del Cura, Los Locos, Los Náufragos – and to a lesser extent La Mata – have been almost full to brimming, and similar numbers are expected this weekend and into next week’s two fiesta days as the weather shows no sign of changing.   Temperatures of 28ºC are forecast until next Wednesday at the earliest.

The downside to this influx is that since September 15, there has been no lifeguard or rescue services in operation on the beaches and is something that the municipality is looking to address for the 2018 summer season.  At present, the patrols only operate over the Easter weekend and from June 1.
