RONDA Town Council will block off the road around the New Bridge to traffic for a month and a half to repair structural damages.
From Monday November 6, traffic will no longer be permitted to drive across the New Bridge so that local authorities can repair the sinkholes that appeared following recent spells of heavy rain. Improvements will also be made to the sanitation system and the area will be made waterproof to help prevent this kind of wear and tear in the future.
The renovations are estimated to go on for around 40 days, but the council has promised that it will make sure the work is finished as quickly as possible. The project has been estimated to cost around €100,000 to complete.
The council has also warned that parking will not be allowed in the surrounding areas during this time and that some bus services will be slightly affected, as not even emergency services vehicles will be allowed to cross the bridge while it is under repair.
