Car airbags trap crash driver

FIREFIGHTERS based in Almoradí have rescued a man trapped in his car following a crash in Rojales.

The driver was trapped between his car’s airbags that had activated after his vehicle collided with another that was parked on the hard shoulder on the CV-905 near to the Euromarina Hotel on Ciudad Quesada for reasons that are still being investigated.  The attending firefighters used special equipment that helped them to remove the backseat and then take the injured driver out through the hatchback.

He suffered fractures to his ribs and one of his arms and was taken to the University Hospital in Torrevieja.

The accident temporarily interrupted the flow of traffic in both lanes of the dual carriageway in the Torrevieja direction of the CV-905, and caused delays to those accessing the road from the nearby AP-7 Alicante to Cartagena motorway and from local roads from Rojales and Benijófar
