BENITACHELL’S Department of Education has arranged a workshop in the Cala del Moraig to promote the values of ecological, sustainable fishing to children.
‘Tu primer taller de pesca ecofriendly en el Moraig’ (Your first eco-friendly fishing workshop in the Moraig) was presented this week by Councillor Myra van ‘t Hoff and focuses on teaching participants how to fish sustainably, with conservation at the forefront of one’s mind.
The free workshop will take place next Saturday November 25 and is open to boys and girls from eight years of age.
Participants will enjoy a variety of activities, including making their own bracelets with fishing line, learning how to tie knots, how to hook bait and how to fish without impacting the seabed.
Myra van ‘t Hoff said: “It is a unique experience for children to connect with nature and discover the art of ecological fishing in an area of great scenic beauty such as the Cala del Moraig.”
Registration can be done in person at Santa María Magdalena CEIP or by phone – 686 907 320.
Registration closes next Tuesday November 21.
Participants need only bring lunch and water shoes.
