ON THE day that the Autonomous Police service of the Valencian Community was celebrating their 25th anniversary, they hosted a session to highlight the illegal gambling throughout the region.

They announced that since they had assumed the responsibility for illegal betting and gaming in all its forms at the end of 2015, they had dismantled a number of illicit organisations in the Alicante province; especially in and around Benidorm and in the Vega Baja.

A total of 36 illegal gambling venues and nine illegal bingo halls had been stopped as well as two poker sessions that were similarly raided.  The inspections netted a total of €45,000 and £7,000 as well as 40 computers and other equipment related to the operations that could be used as evidence.
