Never mind the weather

CALPE´S Councillor of Tourism Jan Van Parijs was in London this week representing the municipality at the World Travel Market (WTM) event.

WTM is a UK event for the global travel industry, launched at London’s Olympia in 1980 before moving to Earl’s Court in 1992 and then to ExCeL London in 2002. Almost 46,000 senior travel industry professionals, government ministers and representatives of the international media, converge on ExCeL London each year in November to attend WTM.

Calpe aims to capitalise on the British tourists who already – followed by the German tourists – frequent the coastal city the most in the mid and low seasons.

Van Parijs said: “whilst the number of tourists visiting Calpe from other parts of Europe dwindles in the mid and low seasons, the number of British tourists continues to grow year-on-year.”
