Oh…what a beauty!

POLICE in the city of Karlsruhe were alerted by a worried resident after finding what he believed was a World War II bomb in his garden.  Instead, what the 81-year-old man had stumbled across was…a very large courgette measuring 16 inches long.

Angela still Nº1

DESPITE all her recent problems, German Chancellor Angela Merkel still remains the most powerful woman in the world.  For the seventh year in a row, she has topped the Forbes List for the top 100…beating Theresa May into second place.

Not so dark favourite

FERRERO, the Italian firm that makes the famous chocolate and hazelnut spread Nutella, has admitted to a German consumer group that the formula has been adjusted.  The Hamburg Consumer Protection Centre noticed that the product was lighter than previously.

Refugee incidents fall

ATTACKS on the homes of refugees in Germany have dropped sharply since the height of the crisis.  A total of 226 have been recorded in 2017 so far, of which 213 are believed to have been caused by right-wing extremists.

Jobless staying stable

GERMANY’S Federal Labour Agency has announced that unemployment in the country has stayed at historic lows during October, with a seasonally-adjusted figure of 5.6 per cent it’s the lowest level since the country’s reunification in 1990 at 2.4 million people.
