Altea writer’s retreat welcomes award-winning author
R. J. Ellory

DON’T MISS your chance to take part in AlteArte’s exclusive ‘Writer’s Retreat’ in April next year.

AlteArte is a mojiteria and art lounge located in the heart of Altea’s Casco Antiguo, just steps from the church square. It is owned and operated by Sara Wilson and David Fernandez, who view it as their “duty and privilege” to create a cultural hub in Altea.
The four-day retreat will be held from April 26 – April 29, 2018 and offer writers the opportunity, environment and space to focus on their writing while at the same time arming them with the helpful instruction and personal insight from a very special guest – published English thriller author R. J. Ellory.

Ellory was first published in the UK in 2003 and has now released fourteen novels.
Winner of 13 international literary awards, his books are available in 26 languages. Having sold more than six million books worldwide, he continues to publish annually and spends a considerable amount of his time travelling.

Ellory has presented documentary pieces about his work for Channel 4 and the BBC in both Georgia and Washington DC and represented the UK at the European Writers’ Parliament in Istanbul, Turkey.
He has made television appearances on France 1, France 3 and has been a guest on ‘Le Grand Journal’ with Antoine de Caunes.
He has accumulated extensive newspaper and magazine coverage, and in 2012 was voted one of the 30 men ‘who will influence the future in the arts, media, politics and sport’ by GQ magazine.

When asked about what inspired her to organise the writer’s retreat, which she hopes to make an annual event, Sara said:
“The idea for the AlteArte Writer’s Retreat stemmed, partly, from AlteArte’s Book Club. The members meet once a month to read and discuss a book. Whenever possible, the author is present either via Skype or in person. This personal contact with authors like R. J. Ellory made me dream bigger, and I instantly envisioned an annual writer’s retreat.”
The retreat is open to 10 participants and tickets purchased before January 1 are offered at a discounted rate.
