BENIMELI will host its much-anticipated Christmas Fair on the village square next Sunday December 10 from 9.00am – 6.00pm.
Promising a fun day out for all the family, guests can enjoy the live music, the market place packed with gift ideas and food stalls – a bar for the older ones, games for the younger ones and much more.
At the fair the Town Hall will also have a stall selling a collection of wooden toys handmade by local pensioner John White.
John – who has lived in Benimeli for 17 years – has spent most of this year making the toys after converting one of his spare bedrooms into a workshop.
The 77-year-old north-Londoner trained as a mechanical engineer before starting his own business engraving glass. Now happily retired in Spain, he keeps himself busy spending between half a day to five to six weeks making the toys, from simpler spinning tops to more complex castles and ride-on horses.
All profits made from the sale of John’s toys will be donated to the Benimeli village schools.
