MARINA ALTA chef Rafa Soler was recently awarded his first Michelin star and his home town of Teulada-Moraira couldn’t wait to celebrate.
The municipality honoured Soler in an event at the Town Hall.
The celebration was led by Teulada-Moraira Mayor Carlos Linares, who was joined by councillors together with friends and family of the chef.
Mayor Linares spoke of Soler’s experience and how his hard work and determination has led him to being recognised by the French tire company.
A video documenting the chef’s life and career followed, before Mayor Linares presented him with a sculpture by local artist Toni Mari and an embroidered apron with his name and the Teulada-Moraira logo.
An emotional Soler thanked both the council and the municipality for their support past and present and highlighted that a lot of his dishes focus on food from Teulada-Moraira… he even uses traditional techniques taught to him by the local fishermen.
At his restaurant – Audrey’s in Calpe – the menu features a dynamic combination of flavours fuelled by his inventive passion to create culinary masterpieces.
Reviewers on TripAdvisor say: “Absolutely incredible, can’t wait to return!” and “Beautiful food, excellent presentation and flavour – a true gastro experience.”
