As this will be the final article of the year from myself, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our regular readers over the last 12 months.
As many of you will be aware, Chorus Financial have been on a real mission in 2017. We identified major issues with how many financial services companies operate out here in Spain, and myself and Senior Partner, Tracy Storer, felt that something had to be done about it. Rather than simply running our usual adverts, telling you all about the various services we provide, we wanted to use our advertising space to better educate the public on how to navigate safely through the financial planning process.
It’s fair to say that the articles we’ve published have not made us particularly popular with certain financial services companies out here in Spain. We’ve revealed practises that despite being illegal in the UK, have been generating an awful lot of undisclosed commission for a large number of Spanish based financial advisory firms.
I won’t try to hide it; financial advisors earn good money. This is the case in the UK, and it’s also the case in Spain. But there’s a difference between earning a good wage because you’re doing a good job, and providing a great service to your clients, and earning a ridiculous wage by putting your interests before those of your clients. Our mission is simply to educate the public in such a way, that the latter becomes impossible.
One of my personal highlights in 2017 was being asked to join the prestigious panel of The Finance Tour. For Chorus Financial to have been sat on the panel alongside the likes of Rathbone Brothers PLC, The Prudential and London & Colonial, was a major endorsement of the important work we’re doing out here in Spain. The Finance Tour was arguably the most successful event of its kind here in Spain, and the response we received from the general public was overwhelmingly positive. I’m delighted to announce today that The Finance Tour is returning to Spain in Spring 2018. More information will follow nearer the time.
All that leaves me to do now is wish all our readers and clients a peaceful and wonderfully Happy Christmas, and Tracy and I will be back in the New Year, with what we hope you find to be more useful and educational content.
