ALDI opened a new store in Finestrat on Wednesday as part of its development plan in the Valencian Community, where it currently has 54 stores, 32 of which in the Alicante Province.

The 1,200-square metre store is in the new commercial park in La Cala (Avenida Finestrat, 11-13), next to Leroy Merlin and offers ample parking.

The new store has created 10 new jobs.

Acting Mayor of Finestrat Victor Dario Llinares attended the grand opening ceremony and was honoured to cut the ribbon as shoppers waited in anticipation to snap up the deals to be had.

Llinares thanked ALDI for having chosen Finestrat, taking advantage of the expansion that the Boulevard is experiencing.

“The strategic location of our town, the excellent communications and the efficiency of our council when managing an opening operation make Finestrat the ideal municipality to establish itself and grow as a company,”he said.

ALDI has 10,000 stores in 18 countries and an estimated combined turnover of more than €50 billion. Based in Germany, the chain was founded by brothers Karl and Theo Albrecht in 1946 when they took over their mother’s store in Essen, which had been in operation since 1913.

The store is open Monday – Saturday 09.00am – 9.30pm.
