A man was arrested for beating a bar owner with a broomstick in Gandia last week.
Police were called to the scene outside the bar on Paseo de las Germanias and found the victim – a 53-year-old Spanish man – in a bad way.
A 30-year-old Spanish man was arrested as alleged perpetrator of the crime – he is believed to have fractured the bar owner’s humerus (‘funny bone’) and femur.
The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance and was operated on immediately.
He is reported to be recovering well.
