STAFF from the Benidorm Film Office (BFO) and Visit Benidormwere in London this week at the FOCUS exhibition.
FOCUS “brings together professionals from all sectors of the creative screen industries, offering high-value contacts, a packed industry expert session programme, facilitated meetings and receptions.”
The Benidorm team ran a stand at the exhibition to promote the city as it becomes one of the most active audio-visual production destinations in Spain.
Benidorm’s streets have become a popular backdrop for hundreds of productions, the most sought-after areas being Mirador de la Cruz, Paseo de Poniente, calle Dos Calas and calle Gerona.
Figures for the first half of 2017 were up 47 per cent on the first half of 2016 with most filming taking place in the months of May and June.
In June this year, four productions were being filmed on one day.
Head of the BFO Rosa Llorca said: “We attended the FOCUS exhibition with the idea of studying how other destinations in this sector work and of making our city known as a set.”
