They posted on their official Twitter account “The NYPD is responding to reports of an explosion of unknown origin at 42nd Street and 8th Ave, #Manhattan. The A, C and E line are being evacuated at this time. Info is preliminary, more when available.”

The explosion reportedly happened at the Port Authority Bus Terminal near Times Square, shortly before 8am local time. NYPD say a ´possible pipe bomb´ was detonated below a passage way. One person is in custody and some New York subway lines have been evacuated.

Initial reports indicated several people had been injured with the suspected bomber among them, however the latest report on the NYPD official twitter account states “No injuries other than suspect at this time”
