Pensioner rescued after riverbed fall

AN 83-YEAR-OLD British man was rescued from the bed of the River Gorgos in Jalon on Wednesday morning.

According to the Provincial Fire Consortium, the man was in his car when, for unknown reason, he ended up in the riverbed.
Worried onlookers called emergency services and firefighters arrived with three fire engines.

The man had managed to free himself from his car and firefighters located him in the riverbed, hauled him on to a stretcher and carried him to the safety where he was attended by medics.
