THE National Police have arrested a group of shoplifters in Marbella who had been targeting clothes shops.
The five-member gang – three Romanian men and two Spanish women aged between 15 and 36 and– were arrested as alleged perpetrators of nine counts of theft.
The investigation began when the police noticed the group acting suspiciously at a local commercial centre.
They tracked the gang, working out that each member played a different role in the operation – one was a driver and another was an expert at deactivating security tags.
On one occasion, the group even used a child to commit theft without raising suspicion.
The police seized a vehicle, two gifts bags the group would use to shield the stolen goods, magnets, a frequency inhibitor and numerous items of clothing which were returned.
