This week in France - Mobile phone ban

Mobile phone ban
FRANCE’S EDUCATION MINISTER recently announced that mobile phones will be banned from primary, junior, and middle schools, calling it a matter of “public health.” While phones are already prohibited in classrooms in France, starting in September 2018 students won’t be allowed to use them on breaks, at lunch, or between lessons either.

Coming together
POLICE arrested a man in connection with the jihadist murder of a police couple after his DNA was matched to traces found in their home near Paris. The 24-year-old has been linked to Daesh extremist Larossi Aballa who claimed the June 2016 attack before being killed by police in a shootout.

Desperate measures
A FRENCH COUPLE have gone on trial accused of causing the death of their 13-month baby by allegedly putting antidepressants and tranquillisers in her bottle to stop her crying.

Blabla pervert
A 52-YEAR-OLD FRENCHMAN is on trial accused of eight sexual assaults on young women he drugged with chocolate mixed with tranquilisers after they signed up to travel with him in his car via ride-sharing app BlaBla Car.

RIP Johnny

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of people lined the streets of Paris last Saturday to bid farewell to the French rock star Johnny Hallyday, who died last week at the age of 74 after a battle with lung cancer. His coffin was driven in a cortege down the Champs-Elysees followed by hundreds of leather-clad bikers.
